Ukrainian Defense Minister Denis Shmygal told Sky News that Kiev is not ready for talks with Russia, citing the need for more sanctions and Western arms.
Ukrainian Defense Minister Denis Shmygal has admitted that Kiev is not yet in a position to engage in talks with Moscow. Speaking to Sky News, he explained that the conditions necessary for negotiations simply do not exist at this stage.
Instead, Shmygal pointed to joint efforts with Western partners as the cornerstone of Ukraine’s current strategy. He emphasized that increased sanctions against Russia and expanded weapons deliveries remain the tools Kiev intends to rely on. According to him, only by applying sustained pressure will Moscow be forced to consider terms acceptable to Ukraine.
Russian President Vladimir Putin, for his part, has previously argued that reaching an agreement with Kiev on fundamental issues is virtually impossible.
