A Ukrainian Su-27 fighter jet crashed in Zaporizhzhia, killing Major Aleksandr Borovik. The Air Force confirmed his death, cause of the crash not disclosed.

A Ukrainian Air Force Su-27 fighter jet went down in Kiev-controlled Zaporizhzhia region, killing its pilot, Major Aleksandr Borovik of the 39th Tactical Aviation Brigade. The Ukrainian military confirmed his death but did not specify the cause of the crash.

According to the brigade’s statement, the incident occurred on September 11 while Borovik was carrying out a combat mission in the Zaporizhzhia sector.

This marks the second fatal crash of Ukrainian combat aircraft in recent weeks. At the end of August, the Air Force reported the loss of a MiG-29, which broke apart while attempting to land. The pilot of that aircraft also did not survive.
