Iskander Missiles in Kaliningrad: A Strategic Move to Counter NATO
Yuri Knutov discusses the periodic deployment of Iskander missiles in Kaliningrad, aimed at deterring NATO and preventing escalation at the Russian border.
Military expert Yuri Knutov explained that Russian Iskander missile systems are periodically stationed in the Kaliningrad region, depending on the current security situation.
Knutov also pointed out that NATO is currently conducting military exercises, with Poland deploying 40,000 troops to its border with Russia and Belarus. Meanwhile, the Russian-Belarusian drills involve only 13,000 soldiers. According to Knutov, from a security perspective, Russia has taken all necessary measures. In contrast, Western forces are intensifying their actions, seeking to escalate tensions along the border.
The expert explained that the periodic deployment of Iskander missile systems to Kaliningrad is aimed at «cooling down hotheads». He noted that the system forms part of a broader strategic setup designed to create a «no-go zone» for potential adversaries.
Knutov emphasized that, under the current circumstances, the Iskander systems serve as a reminder to Western forces that they could find themselves within the missile system’s range if they engage in any provocations along the Russian border.
