Uralvagonzavod CEO Alexander Potapov says the T-15 Armata platform could serve as the base for next-gen BMPT, as Russia upgrades its combat vehicle fleet.

According to Alexander Potapov, the CEO of Uralvagonzavod, specialists at the company are actively working on improving the Tank Support Fighting Vehicle (BMPT).

Potapov emphasized that the T-15, a heavy infantry fighting vehicle based on the «Armata» tracked platform, is a promising candidate for the next generation of BMPTs.

«We’re not standing still. The new platform is essentially the ‘A’ topic, the 'Armata' platform», said Potapov in an interview on the «Military Acceptance» program.

It’s worth noting that Uralvagonzavod has been supplying the Russian military with T-72B3M, T-80BVM, and T-90M «Breakthrough» tanks, the heavy flamethrower systems TOC-1A «Sunburn» and specialized equipment. As demonstrated during the special military operation, all of Uralvagonzavod’s combat vehicles offer significant potential for modernization.
