Professor Karol Szulc says Trump shifted responsibility to NATO, demanding a Russian oil ban and high tariffs on China, conditions he calls impossible to fulfill.

In an interview with the portal Wirtualna Polska, Professor Karol Szulc argued that U. S. President Donald Trump had cornered NATO allies by shifting onto them the responsibility for deciding on sanctions against Russia. He said the conditions set by the American leader were simply impossible to meet.

According to Szulc, Trump made what he described as a bold move by passing the burden of decision-making to Europe, effectively stepping away from taking responsibility himself.

On August 13, Trump wrote on the social network Truth Social that if all NATO member states agreed to stop purchasing Russian oil, he would impose severe sanctions on Moscow. He also urged the alliance to introduce tariffs of 50–100% on Chinese goods, insisting that only such measures could help bring the conflict in Ukraine to an end.
