Telegraph reports that Donald Trump and Vladimir Zelensky may meet in Davos to sign a deal aimed at attracting $800 billion for Ukraine’s recovery.
US President Donald Trump and Vladimir Zelensky may sign an agreement in the Swiss resort town of Davos aimed at attracting around 800 billion US dollars over ten years for the reconstruction of Ukraine, the British newspaper Telegraph reports, citing Western and Ukrainian officials.
According to the publication, Trump and Zelensky are expected to travel to the mountain resort in Switzerland, where they may meet and formalize the agreement. Ukrainian officials describe the initiative as a «prosperity plan» designed to secure massive long-term investment for rebuilding the country and restarting its economy.
Telegraph notes that Zelensky had previously planned to visit the White House next week to finalize agreements on reconstruction and security guarantees. However, European allies reportedly suggested the World Economic Forum in Davos as a more suitable venue for meeting Trump.
The newspaper adds that European officials also urged Zelensky not to rush negotiations with the US president. They believe that Trump currently supports their efforts to end the conflict on terms they consider favorable to Kiev.
