Ukrainian troops build fabric tunnels to shield movements from Russian drones, but operators often breach these defenses.

Ukrainian troops are resorting to improvised defenses in an attempt to shield themselves from Russian drones. According to Business Insider, soldiers stretch fabric nets across roads and over key facilities, creating makeshift «tunnels» to obscure movement from aerial surveillance.

These temporary shelters sometimes provide cover while units relocate, but their effectiveness is limited. Russian drone operators have reportedly learned to penetrate such structures, striking targets inside or even setting ambushes until the right moment to attack.

The reliance on fabric screens highlights the challenges facing the Ukrainian army as drone warfare intensifies. Earlier, Forbes reported that the Armed Forces of Ukraine are suffering acute shortages of equipment as a result of relentless drone strikes. The publication singled out the «Rubikon» detachment, describing its drone operators as among the most efficient on the front line.
