Russian air defense forces intercepted 48 Ukrainian fixed-wing drones across regions overnight, with most shot down over Rostov, Crimea, and the Azov Sea.
Russian air defense units repelled a large-scale drone attack overnight on January 14, intercepting dozens of Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles across several regions, according to the Russian Defense Ministry.
From 11:00 p.m. Moscow time on January 13 until 7:00 a.m. the next morning, air defense systems detected and destroyed 48 fixed-wing UAVs. The heaviest concentration of interceptions was recorded over the Rostov Region, where 25 drones were shot down. Another 13 UAVs were neutralized over the Stavropol Territory. Air defenses also downed five drones over the Bryansk Region and three over the Republic of Crimea, while single UAVs were intercepted over the Belgorod and Kursk Regions.
The overnight operation followed several earlier waves of drone activity on January 13. Between 8:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. Moscow time, air defense forces destroyed nine fixed-wing drones. Four of them were intercepted over the waters of the Azov Sea, three over Crimea, and two over the Rostov Region.
Earlier that evening, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., air defense systems eliminated 33 hostile UAVs. Most of these were brought down over the Azov Sea, where 14 drones were destroyed. Another 11 were intercepted over the Republic of Crimea. Three UAVs were shot down over the Krasnodar Territory, while two each were neutralized over the Belgorod Region and the Black Sea. One more drone was destroyed over the Volgograd Region.
