Russian forces are increasingly using Geran drones armed with air-to-air missiles and magnetic mines, targeting Ukrainian aircraft and rail infrastructure.

Russian forces are increasingly deploying Geran unmanned aerial vehicles equipped with air-to-air missiles in attempts to target Ukrainian aircraft. This was reported by Ukrainian Armed Forces communications and drone specialist Sergey Beskrestnov, known by the call sign «Flash».

In a post on his Telegram channel, Beskrestnov published images of drone debris that included an R-60 missile, which has a reported engagement range of up to 10 kilometers. He noted that Ukrainian forces had previously identified Russian drones armed with R-73 air-to-air missiles as well as Verba man-portable air defense systems.

According to Beskrestnov, the Russian Armed Forces have also begun using magnetic mines against railway infrastructure, with these munitions likewise being delivered by Geran drones.

Earlier, Ukraine’s Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense reported that the Russian military had started employing upgraded versions of the Geran drones capable of carrying air-to-air missiles.
