Russian Air Defense Repels Ukrainian Drone Attacks Overnight

Russian air defenses intercepted dozens of Ukrainian drones over Rostov, Crimea, Krasnodar Territory and the Sea of Azov on January 14–15, Moscow said.

Russian air defenses repelled another wave of Ukrainian drone attacks overnight into January 15, intercepting and destroying 34 fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles, according to the Russian Ministry of Defense.

The main concentration of the attack was in Rostov Region, where air defense units shot down 19 drones. Six more were destroyed over Bryansk Region, five over Volgograd Region. Single UAVs were intercepted over Belgorod, Kursk, and Voronezh Regions, as well as above the waters of the Sea of Azov.

The previous day, January 14, air defense systems were engaged repeatedly over several time windows. Between 1:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. Moscow time, 39 Ukrainian drones were neutralized. The largest number — 12 UAVs — was intercepted over Krasnodar Territory. Another 11 were destroyed above the Sea of Azov, seven over Belgorod Region. Air defenses also downed four drones in Rostov Region, three in Kursk Region, and two over the territory of the Republic of Crimea.

Earlier that same day, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Moscow time, air defense units countered yet another wave of attacks. A total of 33 drones were shot down. Most of them — 28 UAVs — were intercepted over the Sea of Azov. Three drones were destroyed over Crimea, and two more over Krasnodar Territory.
