White House envoy Steve Witkoff outlines US conditions for an Iran deal, including ending uranium enrichment, cutting missiles, and halting support for allied groups.
White House special envoy Steve Witkoff outlined a set of conditions Washington wants to закрепить in a potential agreement with Iran. The proposal calls for a hard revision of key elements of Iran’s nuclear and military policy.
According to the US position, Tehran must fully abandon uranium enrichment, significantly reduce its missile arsenal, and eliminate around two tons of previously accumulated enriched nuclear material with enrichment levels ranging from 3.67% to 60%. Washington also demands that Iran stop supporting allied armed groups in the region.
In return, Iran is being offered easing of sanctions pressure and a gradual return to full participation in international economic and political processes.
Washington believes Iran’s worsening economic situation could push the country’s leadership toward compromise and concessions in negotiations. Witkoff also indicated that failure to reach a diplomatic settlement would lead to крайне negative consequences, while stressing that alternative scenarios, including military options, are considered undesirable.
Earlier, contradictory reports appeared in the media: some sources claimed Donald Trump was persuaded to отказаться from striking Iran, while others suggested the United States is only intensifying preparations for a possible military operation.
