Russian Air Defense Downs 92 Ukrainian Drones Overnight

Russian air defense forces intercepted 92 Ukrainian drones overnight across regions, with the number shot down over Belgorod, Saratov and Voronezh.

On the night of January 19, air defense forces repelled a large-scale attack by Ukrainian fixed-wing drones, according to the Russian Ministry of Defense. On-duty air defense units intercepted and destroyed a total of 92 unmanned aerial vehicles over several regions of the country.

The heaviest activity was recorded in Belgorod Region, where 31 drones were neutralized. Saratov Region came next with 29 intercepted UAVs, while 25 were shot down over Voronezh Region. Air defense systems also engaged targets over Bryansk and Tambov Regions, where three drones were destroyed in each area. One additional UAV was intercepted over Kursk Region.

Drone activity had been reported the previous day as well. Between 8:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. Moscow time on January 18, air defense assets eliminated another 17 Ukrainian drones. Most of them-13 aircraft-type UAVs-were downed over Belgorod Region. Two drones were intercepted in Oryol Region, and one each in Kursk and Bryansk Regions.
