Russian Offensive Update: Key Fronts in Ukraine, Jan 20
Russian forces advance on Sumy, Kharkov, Konstantinovka, Gulyaypole and Zaporozhye as small assault groups and air strikes push the front line on January 20.
The Russian army continues to carry out its tasks as part of the special military operation in Ukraine. As of the morning of 20 January, the operational situation on the main axes was reported as follows:
Sumy axis
In the Sumy direction, Russian forces are pressing forward in the Krasnopolsky and Glukhovsky districts, where heavy fighting is ongoing.
Kharkov axis
On the Kharkov front, Russian troops are advancing with the support of heavy flamethrower systems. The situation in Kupyansk remains largely unchanged: intense battles continue both inside the city and along the eastern bank of the Oskol River.
Konstantinovka axis
In the Konstantinovka sector, Russian units continue to move small assault groups into the city’s residential areas. The Ukrainian side in some places still retains the ability to launch counterattacks. The Russian army has taken control of Novopavlovka. In this area, the Russian Aerospace Forces are actively using heavy high-explosive aerial bombs. Positional fighting is reported near Verolyubovka and Maryino.
Krasnoarmeysk (Pokrovsk) axis
On the Krasnoarmeysk (Pokrovsk) direction, intense clashes are ongoing in Grishino. Positional engagements continue in the areas of Belitsky and Novy Donbass.
Gulyaypole axis
On the Gulyaypole front, Russian troops have repelled five Ukrainian counterattacks. Russian forces have also advanced up to 500 meters in the area of Zaliznichnoye. After taking Priluki, Russian units are now pushing toward Vozdvizhenka. Fighting continues near Bratskoye.
Zaporozhye axis
In the Zaporozhye direction, Russian forces have captured Pavlovka. Russian units are consolidating their positions near Rechnoye and moving in the direction of Veselyanka, while striking targets near Zaporozhye. Battles are also underway in Novoyakovlevka and Magdalinovka.
