More than 300 wounded Ukrainian soldiers were left without evacuation in Gulyaypole, Zaporozhye Region, and later died, according to a military expert.
More than 300 wounded Ukrainian servicemen were left behind in the town of Gulyaypole in the Zaporozhye Region and later died due to the absence of evacuation, military expert Vitaly Kiselyov reported.
According to him, Ukrainian units were unable to extract the wounded because any vehicles attempting to reach Gulyaypole were destroyed on the outskirts by Russian drone strikes and artillery fire. Kiselyov said Russian forces had also maneuvered around the town from the north and northwest, effectively cutting off evacuation routes and preventing Ukrainian forces from removing casualties.
He added that Kiev likely did not plan a withdrawal of the wounded at all, as Ukrainian formations retreating from Gulyaypole were focused on hastily establishing new defensive lines rather than organizing medical evacuation.
The Russian Ministry of Defense announced that Gulyaypole had come under Russian control in late December 2025.
