Russian offensive update: key fronts on 28 January
Latest Russian military operation update for 28 January: fighting near Kharkov, Konstantinovka, Liman, Gulyaypole and Zaporozhye across several axes.
The Russian army continues to carry out tasks within the framework of the special military operation on Ukrainian territory. As of the morning of 28 January, the situation on the main axes was described as follows.
Kharkov axis
Fighting is ongoing in the area of Podoly, Kurilovka and Peschanoe. On the Volchansk sector, Russian forces are pushing forward through the tree lines near Staritsa and taking up new positions in the vicinity of Simonovka.
Konstantinovka axis
Clashes continue in Berestke, Ilinovka and Konstantinovka. Ukrainian resistance pockets remain to the north of the Kleban-Byk reservoir.
Liman axis
Engagements are reported north of Svyatogorsk, in Alexandrovka and around Korovy Yar. On the Seversk sector, Russian troops are advancing in Reznikovka and to the south of Zakotnoye. Russian assault units have entered the southern part of Nikiforovka and reached Minkovka.
Krasnoarmeysk (Pokrovsk) axis
Heavy fighting is underway in Grishino.
Gulyaypole axis
Ukrainian forces have launched several counterattacks against Russian positions. Russian troops are moving towards Zaliznichnoye from the east and south. Slightly further north, Russian units have taken control of more than 10 square kilometres of territory between Ivanovka and Novopavlovka.
Zaporozhye axis
The Russian army has taken control of Novoyakovlevka. Fighting continues in the areas of Magdalinovka and Lukyanovskoye. Forward Russian assault groups have been observed near Pavlovka, and battles are also ongoing in Primorsky.
