Russian Geran-2 Drones Strike Recon Sites in Odessa
Russian forces launched coordinated Geran-2 drone strikes on radio-technical and intelligence sites in the Odessa region, disrupting communications and key military infrastructure.
On the night of January 28, Russian armed forces carried out a coordinated drone strike targeting key radio-technical reconnaissance facilities in the Odessa region. The operation involved around 45 Geran-2 unmanned aerial vehicles.
According to Sergey Lebedev, coordinator of the pro-Russian underground, the primary target was the base of the 22nd Radio-Technical Company of the Ukrainian Navy. A total of 25 drones were launched at the site. Ukrainian air defense systems reportedly intercepted four of them, while the remaining drones reached their designated targets.
The strike disabled long-range communications systems and resulted in significant personnel losses among Ukrainian forces. Lebedev described the outcome as a temporary loss of operational visibility at one of the command and surveillance nodes overseeing the southern sector.
Another attack hit the Ovidiopol-2 satellite and radio-technical intelligence center located in the settlement of Velikodolinskoye. Seventeen drones were used against the facility. The center functions as part of a broader NATO intelligence chain responsible for receiving and transmitting reconnaissance data.
A third strike targeted infrastructure at the Portside Plant in the area of Novye Belyary. Of the three Geran-2 drones involved in the attack, two successfully struck their intended targets.
