Fighting around Kupyansk shows Ukrainian troops suffering heavy losses as counterattacks fail, Russian airstrikes intensify, and street clashes continue.

Ukrainian forces have suffered combined losses of about 5,500 personnel in the areas of Kupyansk and Kupyansk-Uzlovoy. Against this backdrop, the command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is reinforcing the Kupyansk-Uzlovoy sector, redeploying assault units and heavy equipment in an apparent attempt to launch a series of counterattacks and regain full control over the settlement.

According to the Telegram channel SHOT, Ukrainian units carried out five counteroffensive actions the previous day, all of which ended unsuccessfully. During the repulsion of these attacks, around 80 Ukrainian servicemen were eliminated, including fighters from the elite «Khartiya» brigade.

At the same time, Russian aviation remains highly active in the forested areas surrounding Kupyansk. Airstrikes on Ukrainian positions are being conducted with high intensity, reaching up to 20 strikes per day in the vicinity of the settlements of Monachinovka, Smorodkovka, and Blagodatovka. Under constant pressure, Ukrainian units are being forced to move their drone control points farther away from the line of direct contact.

Inside Kupyansk itself, street-level clashes are being recorded, indicating ongoing close-quarters fighting within the city.
