Ukraine’s 27th artillery brigade, rebuilt after losing all HIMARS, is redeployed to Sumy with Bogdana howitzers as morale collapses in the 47th brigade.

According to a source in the Russian security services, the Ukrainian army’s command has redeployed the 27th Separate Artillery Brigade to the Sumy region.

The source specified that this formation was reorganized at the end of 2025 from the 27th Rocket Artillery Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces after it lost all of its US-supplied HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems. He added that the brigade has since been re-equipped with Ukrainian-made «Bogdana» self-propelled howitzers, as quoted by TASS.

Earlier reports indicated that servicemen of the 47th Separate Mechanized Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, operating on the Sumy axis, have been refusing to follow orders and leaving their units without authorization. Russian security sources say discontent with the brigade’s leadership is growing, noting that the commander’s authority is at a low level both due to his personal ties with Vladimir Zelensky and because of his age.
