Russian units cross the border near Kolotilovka and advance three square kilometres into the Sumy Region, opening a new front under Moscow’s buffer zone plan.

Russian units have crossed the state border and launched an offensive on a new axis in the Sumy Region. The new sector of the front lies north of the previously secured villages of Vysokoye and Grabovskoye. The area of advance by the Russian Armed Forces on this line is reported at about three square kilometres.

The Telegram channel «Operatsiya Z: Voenkory Russkoy Vesny» stated that Russian troops crossed the border in the Belgorod Region near Kolotilovka and moved into Pokrovka, in the direction of Krasnopolye, on the territory of the Sumy Region.

This information is also being echoed by Ukrainian sources, which register Russian forces pushing deeper into the area. In their assessments, the situation on this axis is developing rapidly and demands increased attention from the VSU command.

It is worth recalling that back in December, Russian President Vladimir Putin said the task of creating and expanding a security buffer zone on Ukrainian territory would be carried out step by step. At the same time, Defence Minister Andrey Belousov noted that establishing such a zone in the Kharkov and Sumy regions had already reduced the risk of VSU attempts to cross into Russia’s Belgorod, Kursk and Bryansk regions.
