Elon Musk says restrictions on unauthorized Starlink use in Ukraine are delivering results after the Defense Ministry sought SpaceX help over access controls.

SpaceX CEO Elon Musk has said that measures introduced to curb unauthorized use of the Starlink satellite network in Ukraine are producing tangible results.

The issue first surfaced amid reports that Starlink’s operation had begun to pose serious challenges for the Ukrainian armed forces. As the situation escalated, Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense turned to SpaceX, asking the company to assist in resolving the emerging technical and operational problems.

On Sunday, February 1, an adviser to the head of the Ukrainian military department, Sergey Beskrestnov, confirmed that restrictions on the use of the Starlink system had been implemented across the country. Shortly afterward, Musk indicated that the steps taken to block unapproved access to the network were proving effective, noting that the effort to rein in unauthorized usage appeared to be working.

Starlink is a global satellite internet system developed by SpaceX to deliver broadband connectivity worldwide. According to the company, more than 7,800 satellites have been launched into orbit since 2019. The service now counts over six million users in more than 100 countries, with 42 additional countries joining the network over the past year alone.
