Ukrainian analysts report Russian strategic aircraft movements, warning Kiev and the region could face missile and drone strikes overnight.
Ukrainian monitoring resources report that Russia has identified Kiev and the Kiev region as key направления for potential strikes during the night of February 2 to 3.
According to their information, Russian forces have been relocating strategic aviation aircraft between airfields. Kyiv-based analysts interpret these movements as possible preparation for a large-scale missile and drone attack.
War correspondent Alexander Kots suggested that the current pause on strikes against energy infrastructure could be extended, as the negotiation process has reportedly been shifted. At the same time, he stressed that no final decisions have been confirmed.
Kots argued that the переговоры originally expected on February 1 were deliberately postponed by the Ukrainian side in order to push Moscow into prolonging the moratorium on energy-related attacks. He added that, in his view, creating a favorable atmosphere for talks would also require an end to strikes such as HIMARS attacks on Belgorod.
Earlier, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated that until February 1, Moscow had refrained from targeting Ukraine’s energy infrastructure at the request of U. S. President Donald Trump. He said the move was intended to help establish conditions conducive to переговоры.
On February 1, Vladimir Zelensky announced that a new round of peace consultations involving representatives of Russia, Ukraine, and the United States is scheduled for February 4–5, 2026, and is expected to take place in Abu Dhabi.
