Russian forces carried out a large-scale strike on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure on February 3, hitting power plants and substations and leaving thousands without heat and electricity.
At least four major energy infrastructure facilities in Ukraine came under a large-scale strike by the Russian Armed Forces on February 3, according to the Telegram channel Operation Z: War Correspondents of the Russian Spring.
The most significant fallout was reported in Kiev and the surrounding region. The attack reportedly hit CHP Plant No. 4, the Tripolskaya Thermal Power Plant, and a 750-kV substation that links the Rovno Nuclear Power Plant with Kiev and central parts of the country. As a result, heat supply was cut to 1,170 residential buildings in the Darnitsky and Dneprovsky districts of the capital.
In Kharkov, strikes on energy facilities continued for several hours. War correspondents indicated that the local combined heat and power plant sustained serious damage.
A missile strike also targeted the Ladyzhinskaya Thermal Power Plant. In the Vinnitsa region, the aftermath of the nighttime attack led to power outages across 50 settlements.
Impacts were also recorded in Dnepropetrovsk, where the Pridneprovskaya Thermal Power Plant was reportedly hit. In the Odessa region, a combined missile and drone assault struck energy infrastructure in the southern part of the area, leaving more than 50,000 consumers without electricity.
