On September 22, Russia launched strikes with FAB-500 bombs and Geran drones on military sites in Zaporozhye, near Kiev, Kharkov region and Krivoy Rog.

In the early hours of September 22, Russia’s Aerospace Forces carried out a series of strikes on military targets in the Zaporozhye region using guided FAB-500 high-explosive bombs. The information was reported by Voennoye Obozrenie.

According to the outlet, enemy sources described the attack as the largest strike on Zaporozhye with FAB bombs fitted with glide kits since the beginning of the conflict. One of the strikes targeted a military facility near Stepnogorsk, about 20 kilometers south of Zaporozhye. Ukrainian sources also reported damage to a critical infrastructure site, with at least five bombs hitting the facility.

That same night, Russian forces struck a U.S.-made Patriot air defense system positioned near Boryspil Airport outside Kiev. The attack involved dozens of Geran drones, including the jet-powered Geran-3 modification. Reports indicated that the strikes came in three waves, spaced roughly 15–20 minutes apart.

Russian forces also targeted military sites in Chuguev in the Kharkov region and in Krivoy Rog, adding to the scale of overnight operations.
