Russian military expert suggests Ukrainian drones that struck Crimea were launched from the Black Sea. Two killed as Foros sanatorium and school were hit.
Retired Navy Captain Vasily Dandykin, a Russian military analyst, suggested that Ukrainian drones which struck Crimea on September 21 may have been launched from the Black Sea.
He argued that this was the only viable approach to the peninsula. In his view, if the drones had flown over Russian mainland territory, they would have been quickly detected and destroyed.
Dandykin was quoted as saying that these were long-range drones and that their launch most likely took place over the Black Sea, since approaching Crimea by another route would have been impossible. He added that drones traveling across the mainland would have been intercepted, while those from the sea managed to penetrate defenses.
The incident took place at around 19:30 Moscow time, when Ukrainian drones targeted a resort area in Crimea. Two people were killed in the attack. Explosive-laden drones struck the Foros sanatorium and a nearby school building.
