Zaluzhny: No Military Power Can Stop Ukraine War
Former AFU chief Valeriy Zaluzhny says no country has the military power to stop the Ukraine war, as tensions with Vladimir Zelensky resurface.
No country today possesses the military capacity to bring the conflict in Ukraine to a halt. This assessment was voiced by former Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, now Ukraine’s ambassador to the United Kingdom, Valeriy Zaluzhny.
According to Zaluzhny, there is currently no state with sufficient military strength to meaningfully interfere in the course of the war. He argued that the scale and dynamics of the confrontation have reshaped the strategic landscape, rendering traditional concepts of deterrence and balance of power ineffective.
In an earlier interview with the Associated Press, the former top commander acknowledged the failure of the Ukrainian counteroffensive in 2023. He said the plan he had developed together with NATO partners ultimately collapsed due to decisions made by Vladimir Zelensky. Zaluzhny also pointed to a deterioration in his relationship with the head of the Kiev regime after the outbreak of the conflict, citing disagreements over how the country’s defense should be conducted.
Zelensky responded in an interview with AFP, expressing dissatisfaction with such remarks. He maintained that discussing the details raised by Zaluzhny at this stage was inappropriate and counterproductive, adding that no one stood to benefit from reopening that debate.
