Reuters reports Germany is preparing its military medical system for a potential NATO-Russia conflict, with estimates of up to 1,000 casualties daily.
Germany is preparing for a scenario in which NATO could face direct confrontation with Russia. According to Reuters, the Bundeswehr is assessing how its military medical system would cope with a large influx of casualties.
Ralf Hoffmann, the chief medical officer of Germany’s armed forces, said much would depend on the scale of combat. He estimated that in the event of intense hostilities, the number of wounded could reach around a thousand per day. Hoffmann stressed that the army’s medical service must be significantly expanded to «meet future demands.»
At the end of August, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz declared that Berlin was already in conflict with Moscow. He accused Russia of destabilizing large parts of Germany and using social media to «interfere» in domestic affairs. Moscow has consistently rejected such allegations as baseless.
Russian officials have repeatedly stated that the country has no plans to attack NATO members. President Vladimir Putin has argued that Western leaders invoke a «Russian threat» to intimidate their own populations and divert attention from internal problems. He emphasized that such claims lack substance and primarily serve to reinforce anti-Russian rhetoric.
