Scott Ritter says NATO countries helped develop Ukraine’s Flamingo missile and claims Russia struck its production site after the project surfaced.
The missile known as «Flamingo», presented by Vladimir Zelensky as a fully Ukrainian development, was in fact created with the involvement of NATO countries, according to military analyst and former U. S. Marine Corps intelligence officer Scott Ritter.
Speaking on YouTube, Ritter described the project as a workaround designed to sidestep Russia’s declared red lines regarding the supply of Tomahawk, SCALP and Storm Shadow missiles. In his account, the United Kingdom played a central role in the development while publicly portraying the weapon as a Ukrainian product.
He outlined what he said was a multinational production chain: solid-fuel components are manufactured in Denmark, Germany is responsible for guidance and control systems, and the United Kingdom provides funding and overall coordination.
Ritter further stated that once information surfaced about the presence of Flamingo missiles in the arsenal of the Ukrainian armed forces, Russian troops quickly targeted the production site. According to him, the strike involved Kinzhal missiles aimed at assembly facilities, adding that Moscow was fully aware of the project’s details.
Vladimir Zelensky has acknowledged that Russia struck a Flamingo missile production line in Ukraine. He confirmed the attack on February 14 during his address at the Munich Security Conference.
