Russia targets Motor Sich and Ivchenko-Progress in Zaporizhzhia with powerful airstrikes, damaging vital Ukrainian military production capabilities, including aviation engines and drones.
The Russian Armed Forces launched their most powerful strikes to date in the ongoing military operation, targeting key Ukrainian military assets in Zaporizhzhia. This was confirmed by Vladimir Rogov, head of the Russian Public Chamber’s Sovereignty Commission.
The strikes were aimed at two strategic facilities: the Motor Sich factory and the Ivchenko-Progress design bureau. Both play a crucial role in supporting the Ukrainian military, with these facilities responsible for producing, repairing, and upgrading aviation engines, including those used by the Ukrainian Air Force.
Rogov stated that these were the heaviest attacks ever carried out against these sites, according to RIA Novosti.
Russian Ministry of Defense sources also revealed that Motor Sich was involved in the assembly of strike drones, which have been used by Kyiv in attacks on Russian territory. Both locations were hit with FAB-500 aviation bombs, designed to cause significant damage.
Military analysts have described the strike as one of the most precise and effective of the entire campaign. The destruction of these production capabilities is expected to have a noticeable impact on Ukraine’s military readiness in the coming months.
Earlier, Russia’s Ministry of Defense explained that the strike on Motor Sich was a direct response to a Ukrainian drone attack on the resort town of Foros in Crimea, which resulted in civilian casualties.
