As Ukraine faces heavy losses, the military transfers repair specialists into assault brigades. Explore the impact of this move on troop dynamics and defense strategy.
According to journalists from Zahid Net, the Ukrainian military has made a decision to transfer skilled repair specialists into assault brigades. Specifically, soldiers from the 219th repair battalion in Lviv will be reassigned to infantry units.
Military analyst Alexey Leonkov believes that this is not an uncommon practice in the Ukrainian army. He explained that the Ukrainian command is filling gaps on the front lines by redeploying personnel from other roles, including elderly or sick soldiers. Despite the significant losses, he stated that the Ukrainian forces will be able to hold their positions for a while longer.
Leonkov also pointed out that Ukrainian commanders are employing a carefully considered strategy. According to him, while mobilized troops are sent to the front lines, they are generally not deployed for direct assaults. Instead, many of these soldiers perform support roles, such as operating drones. This approach helps reduce casualties while maintaining the integrity of the defense.
However, Leonkov cautioned that if the number of personnel in Ukrainian units falls below 30%, the front will begin to collapse. Currently, this figure stands at approximately 35%.
