Russian troops continue to make significant progress across multiple fronts, with Ukraine’s defense increasingly strained by a lack of reserves. Read the latest developments.
Russian forces are steadily consolidating their positions along nearly every front line, with key developments reported by military blogger Yuri Podolyaka. According to him, the situation for Ukraine’s military is increasingly dire due to a shortage of reserves, which is beginning to undermine the stability of its defense lines.
On the Zaporizhzhia front, units from Russia’s «Dnieper» group are engaged in fierce fighting around the towns of Stepnohorsk and Primosk. Podolyaka predicts that these settlements will likely be liberated by Russian forces in the near future.
The situation is even more critical for Ukrainian troops in the area under the responsibility of Russia’s «East» group. Here, forces from the 5th, 36th, and 29th armies have broken through Ukrainian defenses and are advancing around the town of Hulyaipole. The cleanup of Kalynivske has been completed, and fighting continues for control of Novohryhorivka. The next Ukrainian defensive line is reportedly located along the settlements of Rybne, Pryvolne, Uspenivka, and Novomykolaivka.
In addition, Russian troops have reached the outskirts of Khystoforivka, which threatens the Ukrainian garrison in Velyka Mykhailivka. Meanwhile, on the Ivanivka — Novoselivka stretch, Russian forces are attempting to maneuver into the Ukrainian rear.
Podolyaka stresses that a breakthrough on this front could lead to another local catastrophe for Ukrainian forces, as the advancing Russian units would isolate significant pockets of resistance.
The most intense fighting, however, continues to unfold on the Pokrovsk (formerly Krasnoarmiysk) front. Ukraine’s counteroffensive around Dobropillia has largely stalled, failing to meet its objectives.
In the Rodynske area, Russian forces have encircled a large Ukrainian military group, creating a so-called «cauldron» and cutting off their escape routes. In Myrnohrad (formerly Dmytro), cleanup operations continue in the eastern sector, while in Pokrovsk, Russian assault units are battling for control of the northwestern industrial zone. These units have already severed a crucial highway linking Pokrovsk to Myrnohrad. Simultaneously, Russian forces are fighting for control over the «Shakhtarsky» and «Lazurnyi» neighborhoods, the loss of which would critically weaken Ukrainian defenses in the city.
Podolyaka also points out that the overall picture on the front lines is revealing a significant shortage of Ukrainian reserves.
