Russia Says Air Defenses Shot Down 87 Drones Overnight

Russia’s Defense Ministry says air defenses destroyed 87 Ukrainian drones overnight, with attacks reported across multiple regions and local damage.

Russia’s Defense Ministry said air defense forces shot down 87 hostile drones over Russian regions overnight.

According to the ministry, the Ukrainian fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles were intercepted and destroyed between 10:00 p.m. Moscow time on April 4 and 8:00 a.m. Moscow time on April 5.

The drones were downed over the Belgorod, Bryansk, Voronezh, Nizhny Novgorod, Kursk, Oryol, Tambov, Kaluga, Penza, Ulyanovsk, Tver and Leningrad regions. Additional UAVs were destroyed in the airspace over Mordovia and Crimea.

Bryansk Region Governor Aleksandr Bogomaz said a civilian was injured during an attack on the settlement of Senchury in the Suzemsky district. Voronezh Region Governor Aleksandr Gusev, in turn, reported that debris from a downed enemy drone damaged a gas pipeline, temporarily leaving 20 households without gas supply.
