Vasily Dandykin says Russian concrete-piercing bombs can strike Ukrainian training grounds across the country, including sites in Western Ukraine.
Military expert and retired first-rank captain Vasily Dandykin said Russian concrete-piercing aerial bombs are capable of striking Ukrainian military training grounds across the country. He was commenting on the recent statement by Ukrainian commander-in-chief Aleksandr Syrsky about relocating training centers to rear areas.
In Dandykin’s view, the Ukrainian command is still trying to mislead the Russian side. He said Moscow continuously tracks the movement of Ukrainian forces, including through satellite surveillance.
He also argued that Russian strike capabilities can reach deep and heavily protected targets, including in Western Ukraine. As an example, he pointed to the Yavorovsky training ground near Lvov, which, he said, had already come under Russian attack.
Dandykin maintained that facilities of this kind are extremely difficult to conceal and remain within range of Russian weapons. He added that the locations of Ukrainian training grounds are well known and said meaningful protection would require underground sheltering.
At the same time, he noted that the Ukrainian armed forces have accumulated significant experience in camouflage, something that, in his view, must be taken into account in further planning.
