Reports suggest Russia may deploy Oreshnik hypersonic missiles against Ukraine, targeting key cities as part of a broader expansion of advanced weapons systems.
Russian forces may soon deploy the Oreshnik missile system in strikes against Ukrainian territory, according to reports from Ukrainian media.
The publications indicate that Moscow is preparing potential attacks targeting Kiev, Lvov, and Starokonstantinov. These systems are most likely to be used during the next large-scale missile barrage or immediately afterward, the reports suggest. It is also claimed that the missiles have already been readied and are currently on standby at testing ranges.
At the same time, Russia continues to expand its hypersonic weapons arsenal. This lineup includes systems such as Avangard, Kinzhal, Tsirkon, and Oreshnik. Each of these is capable of exceeding speeds of Mach 5, significantly reducing response times for air defense systems and increasing the likelihood of penetrating defensive shields.
As noted by 19FortyFive, the advancement of such technologies has enabled Moscow to secure a leading position in the global race for hypersonic weapons.
