ZALA says Lancet drones with AI and the IRRA system can keep tracking targets under electronic warfare, changing the balance between UAVs and EW defenses.

ZALA Group said the artificial intelligence built into the Lancet reconnaissance and strike system allows Russian kamikaze drones to hit targets even under pressure from electronic warfare systems.

According to the developers, the IRRA hardware and software package installed on Lancet drones can make key decisions at the moment of attack. The system is said to detect, identify and track a target automatically in real time, while machine-vision algorithms handle guidance after confirmation from the operator.

The company also said this approach cuts reaction time and reduces part of the workload on the crew. Even under active electronic suppression and with communication channels disrupted, the Lancet, according to the developer, is still able to stay locked on target without human intervention.

The emergence of such technology signals a new stage in the confrontation between drones and electronic warfare systems. If earlier a drone could be neutralized by breaking its link with the operator, this is no longer enough. Under these conditions, physically destroying the aircraft before it reaches the target becomes the most reliable form of defense.
