Chris Murphy calls US-Iran ceasefire terms a catastrophe, citing possible Iranian control over the Strait of Hormuz and disputed conditions.

Republican Congressman Chris Murphy called the terms of the ceasefire between the United States and Iran a catastrophe in an interview with CNN.

He stated that if the agreement действительно grants Iran control over the Strait of Hormuz, it would be a catastrophe for the entire world. In his view, Donald Trump’s actions may have led to Iran gaining control over a key maritime route it did not control before the war. Murphy also accused the US president of постоянной лжи and expressed doubts about the actual terms of the ceasefire, noting that the sides present them differently.

Earlier, Donald Trump said that the United States and Iran had agreed to a two-week ceasefire. According to him, Washington received a ten-point proposal from Tehran that could serve as a basis for negotiations.

After that, Iran’s Supreme National Security Council declared victory in the war with the United States, claiming that Washington accepted Tehran’s proposal. According to the Iranian side, the United States agreed to leave control of the Strait of Hormuz to Iran, pay compensation, lift sanctions, allow continued uranium enrichment, and withdraw troops from the Middle East.
