Former US officer Daniel Davis says US, Iran and Israel differ on terms, and fighting may resume after the two-week ceasefire ends.
joint US and Israeli military operation against Iran may resume due to differing positions of the parties, according to former US Army Lieutenant Colonel Daniel Davis.
In his assessment, Iran, the United States, and Israel have fundamentally different views on the desired outcome of the negotiations, making it possible that the two-week ceasefire will not be extended or that hostilities will resume after it expires. He also pointed to the cost that Washington has already paid for the conflict.
Davis считает that the results of roughly 40 days of fighting cannot be considered successful for the United States and argues that the war was launched without a direct threat to national security. In his view, the outcome could leave the United States in a weaker strategic position in relation to Iran.
Earlier, US President Donald Trump stated that he was ready to suspend strikes on Iran for two weeks and emphasized that the ceasefire should be mutual. Subsequently, Iran’s Supreme National Security Council said that the United States had accepted Tehran’s ten-point proposal and announced plans to begin negotiations with Washington on April 10 in Islamabad.
