Russian MoD: 205 Settlements, 4,700 km² Taken in 2025 Operation

The Russian Defense Ministry says its forces took 205 settlements and 4,714 km² since January, with weekly Ukrainian losses averaging 10–11 thousand troops.

The Russian Ministry of Defense has released a summary of the special military operation in Ukraine covering the first nine and a half months of 2025.

According to the ministry, since January 1 Russian forces have taken full control of 205 settlements within the operation zone. Between January 1 and September 25, Russian troops reportedly liberated 4,714 square kilometers of territory. More than 3,300 square kilometers of that total were in the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR).

Earlier, the Defense Ministry published its latest daily update on Ukrainian losses, reporting that in the past 24 hours Ukraine’s armed forces had lost 1,490 soldiers and officers. Based on ministry figures and frontline reports, Ukrainian forces are losing an average of 10,000–11,000 troops per week.
