Russia’s new 2027–2036 State Armament Program will integrate AI, big data, and computer vision into weapons, while advancing digitalization and innovative materials.
Russia’s First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov stated that the range of threats outlined in the military doctrines of Moscow’s adversaries requires more proactive measures. He explained that the Ministry of Defense and the General Staff have already defined objectives for developing advanced models and types of weaponry across all branches of the armed forces.
Manturov noted during a meeting with defense industry representatives that these preparatory efforts will form a central part of the new State Armament Program for 2027–2036. According to him, this program will emphasize the integration of artificial intelligence, big data processing technologies, and computer vision systems into weapons and military hardware.
He added that special attention will also be directed toward developing testing range infrastructure, digitizing production processes, and creating innovative materials, all of which are expected to play a vital role in modernizing Russia’s defense capabilities.
