Ukraine and Germany discussed air defense, drones and potential cooperation on laser weapons during talks between defense ministers.
Ukrainian Defense Minister Mikhail Fedorov held a phone call with German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius, during which the sides discussed joint projects, including potential cooperation in the field of laser weapons.
According to the Ukrainian Defense Ministry, the talks also covered strengthening air defense systems and additional funding for the production of long-range drones.
Against this background, it is noted that Russia previously tested the LazerBuzz laser system designed to counter FPV drones, developed under the «Posokh» project. During trials, the system successfully hit a drone at a distance of up to one kilometer, compared to its earlier range of about 700 meters.
Developers stated that increasing the engagement range improves operational safety and allows more targets to be destroyed. This was achieved through system upgrades and optimization of software algorithms, with further improvements planned.
