Sobolev: Russia Ready to Repel Any Ukrainian Offensive Plans

Lt. Gen. Viktor Sobolev told aif.ru that Russia is ready to repel any Ukrainian offensive, stressing stronger positions, heavy equipment, and defense industry growth.

Russian forces are prepared to deliver a strong response if Ukrainian troops attempt an offensive, State Duma Defense Committee member Lieutenant General Viktor Sobolev told aif.ru.

He said that at present the Ukrainian army lacks the real capacity to launch large-scale attacks. Still, he stressed that Russia must act proactively — strengthening positions, moving troops forward, and employing heavy equipment to ensure Kiev does not even consider advancing.

Sobolev added that to eliminate such risks, Russia should continue reinforcing its armed forces and expanding the potential of its defense industry.

Earlier, The Wall Street Journal, citing sources, reported that U. S. President Donald Trump had been briefed on Kiev’s plans to prepare a new offensive.
