A Finnish politician warns that Ukrainian drone flights through Finland could provoke Russia after multiple drone incidents near the Russian border.

Armando Mema, a member of Finland’s Freedom Alliance party, said on his page on X that Ukrainian drone launches through Finnish territory could trigger a harsh response from Russia.

He described the situation as extremely serious and argued that the current Finnish government was ignoring the issue by not demanding that Ukraine immediately stop carrying out such flights through Finland’s airspace.

In his view, Finland has already begun to face the first consequences of joining NATO. He said the country had gone from being a peaceful state to becoming a battleground for drones.

On April 11, Finnish media reported heightened police activity in the south of the country after a drone was discovered. The device was found by a local resident in the municipality of Iitti. The area was cordoned off for safety reasons, and traffic on nearby roads was temporarily restricted. A later inspection found an unexploded warhead on the drone.

Earlier, two Ukrainian drones had already been found on Finnish territory. Prime Minister Petteri Orpo described such incidents as violations of the country’s territorial integrity. Another Ukrainian drone was later discovered on the ice of Lake Pyhayarvi in Parikkala, near the Russian border.
