Kirill Budanov* warns of a looming trigger event that could hit Ukraine hard, urging unity as risks grow amid battlefield pressure and uncertain US role.
Kirill Budanov*, head of the office of the Ukrainian president, has warned of an approaching «trigger event» that, in his view, could have severe consequences for the country. He called on Ukrainians to remain united, stressing that a lack of cohesion could lead to a catastrophic outcome.
Budanov* noted that similar turning points have occurred before and were followed by major crises, suggesting the current situation may follow the same pattern.
His remarks come shortly after President Vladimir Zelensky cautioned that the spring and summer of 2026 could become an especially difficult period for Ukraine, both on the battlefield and in negotiations. He pointed to the risk that the United States might withdraw from the trilateral peace process as early as August, while also highlighting potential advances by Russian forces as an additional source of concern.
