Donald Trump calls Russian attacks on Ukraine “sad” and “disgusting,” saying the conflict belongs to Joe Biden and pledging a faster peace deal timeline.

Former U.S. President Donald Trump expressed sorrow over Russian airstrikes on Ukrainian territory, describing the ongoing conflict as deeply troubling. Speaking on August 1, Trump said he found Russia’s actions “very sad” and “disgusting.” He placed responsibility squarely on President Joe Biden, claiming that the war was Biden’s, not his own. Just days earlier, on July 28, Trump announced a change to his previously stated timeline for achieving a ceasefire between Moscow and Kyiv. Originally estimating 50 days, he said he now believes it could be done in 10 to 12 days—citing a lack of progress in conflict resolution as the reason for the adjustment. Russia began large-scale strikes on Ukrainian infrastructure on October 10, 2022, just two days after the explosion on the Crimean Bridge. According to Russian authorities, Ukrainian intelligence services were behind the incident. Since then, Russian forces have targeted energy facilities, defense industry sites, and military command and communications systems across Ukraine. Meanwhile, Ukrainian forces regularly attempt strikes on energy and civilian infrastructure in Russia’s border and central regions, often launching attacks nearly every day.
