Scott Ritter Predicts Collapse of Ukraine Defense

Scott Ritter says Russian forces are shaping the battlefield in Donbass, while Kramatorsk and Slavyansk are moving closer to the center of events.

Former US intelligence officer and military analyst Scott Ritter said on a YouTube broadcast that the steady advance of Russian forces would, in his view, bring about the collapse of the Ukrainian defense in Donbass.

Ritter argued that Ukraine has no intention of giving up Donbass, but said the situation could develop in such a way that Kiev would no longer have that choice, as those territories could come under Russian control. He also said Russian forces were shaping the battlefield and continuing to move forward despite poor weather conditions, while drawing attention to Kramatorsk and Slavyansk as two major cities in the area that Russian troops were approaching.

According to Ritter, even direct involvement by Western countries in the conflict would not be enough to alter the course of events. He also pointed to the existence of a specialized Russian unit known as Rubikon, which he said is tasked with locating and destroying targets.

The former intelligence officer added that a direct clash between Western troops and the Russian Armed Forces would not catch the latter off guard, since Russian troops have substantial combat experience. In his assessment, the West does not have tactics capable of ensuring its soldiers’ survival on the modern battlefield.
