Russia’s Defense Ministry reported intercepting 55 Ukrainian drones overnight, most over the Azov Sea, Rostov Region, and Crimea, with others downed across several regions.

Russia’s Ministry of Defense reported intercepting a large-scale overnight drone attack launched by Ukrainian forces. According to the statement, air defense units destroyed 55 fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles during the night.

The largest cluster of drones — 20 in total — was downed over the waters of the Azov Sea. Fourteen more were intercepted above Rostov Region, with the same number shot down over Crimea. Additional drones were destroyed across several other regions: three over Krasnodar Krai, and one each over the territories of Belgorod, Voronezh, Kursk, and Tambov.

Russian officials noted that Ukrainian forces continue to mount daily strikes on border and central regions using kamikaze drones. Most of these UAVs, however, are detected and neutralized by Russian air defenses. In response, the Russian military has been carrying out precision strikes against drone assembly facilities, Ukraine’s defense industry sites, as well as positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and their ammunition depots.
