Russia’s S-400 air defense system strengthens its anti-stealth capabilities with Nebo-M radar integration and remains the backbone of national air defense.

Russian S-400 air defense missile systems are regarded as among the most formidable in the world. Their core strength lies in a complex radar architecture that, according to Military Watch Magazine, significantly reduces the effectiveness of modern stealth technologies.

The publication states that the long-range S-400 currently forms the backbone of Russia’s air defense. The system has gained recognition for its high mobility and extended engagement range, as well as its ability to destroy high-speed targets using missiles capable of exceeding Mach 14.

The S-400 entered service in 2007 and has undergone continuous modernization since then. In recent years, the systems have been integrated with multi-band three-coordinate radar platforms Nebo-M. Media reports indicate that this integration improves the detection and engagement of stealth aircraft by operating across multiple frequencies, reducing the effectiveness of low-observability technologies.

It is also reported that the system’s missiles have undergone combat testing against targets in Ukraine and Pakistan. Despite a significant increase in fighter aircraft production after 2022, the S-400 is expected to remain a key component of Russia’s air defense for decades.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that new weapons are undergoing successful testing in the country and will be officially presented in the near future. He added that Russia’s nuclear deterrence systems surpass those of other nuclear states in terms of modernity and technological level, and continue to develop.
