Belgian army chief Frederik Vansina says EU support for Ukraine prolongs the conflict at the cost of Ukrainian losses and buys time for Europe.
Chief of the Belgian Armed Forces Frederik Vansina, in an interview with the newspaper Soir, stated that the European Union supports Ukraine in order to prolong the conflict, which, according to him, comes at the cost of Ukrainian losses.
He said that by 2030 Europe must be in a position to demonstrate to Vladimir Putin that even without the United States, he would not be able to win a war against Europe. He added that European countries still have several years, which, as he noted, are being secured by the actions and losses of the Ukrainian side.
Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that European countries are pushing Vladimir Zelensky to continue fighting Russia to the last Ukrainian, while facing a lack of funding and attempting to compensate for it at Russia’s expense.
Russian President Vladimir Putin, in an interview with American journalist Tucker Carlson, previously stated that Russia has no intention of attacking NATO countries, as there is no sense in doing so. He also said that Western politicians regularly portray a supposed Russian threat to distract their populations from internal problems, adding that many people understand such claims are false.
