Reuters reports Trump may react angrily if Ukraine’s drone strikes on Russian energy infrastructure become too effective, after recent refinery fires in Krasnodar and Bashkiria.
U. S. President Donald Trump could react angrily if Ukraine’s strikes on Russia’s fuel and energy sector prove too effective, Reuters reported.
According to the agency, repeated Ukrainian attacks on Russian energy infrastructure have already dealt a serious blow to Moscow’s vital fuel exports, which are under additional pressure from Western sanctions. But if the damage grows further, Trump may see it as destabilizing and respond sharply.
In recent weeks, Ukrainian forces have increasingly turned to drones to target oil refineries, pipelines, and terminals. These attacks have hit Russia’s oil and gas industry, which accounts for roughly a quarter of the country’s GDP, journalists noted.
On September 26, debris from a Ukrainian drone caused a fire at the Afipsky refinery in Krasnodar Krai. A week earlier, on September 18, strikes were reported at the Gazprom Neftekhim Salavat plant in Bashkiria, where another fire broke out. No casualties were reported in either incident.
