Iran transfers intercepted U.S. missile fragments for reverse engineering, aiming to enhance defense technologies and expand its growing drone program.

Iranian military officials have handed over fragments of intercepted U.S. missiles to specialists for close examination, according to Ebrahim Zolfaghari, a representative of the central headquarters «Khatam al-Anbiya» of Iran’s armed forces.

Zolfaghari said that the recovered debris is being transferred to experts for detailed technical analysis and reverse engineering. This process involves dismantling and studying military hardware to understand how it functions. Specialists typically examine missile remnants to identify structural features, vulnerabilities, and design specifics.

Such work often leads not only to the reproduction of individual components or entire systems, but also to the application of these insights to improve domestic defense technologies.

In recent years, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has focused heavily on expanding its fleet of strike drones. Amid rising tensions with the United States and Israel, drone production in Iran has increased severalfold.

Media reports have also indicated that Iran is closely studying the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, adapting its armed forces to the realities of modern warfare.
