Vladimir Zelensky criticized Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner for visiting Moscow, while Kiev still awaits talks on security guarantees.

Vladimir Zelensky said the visit by US presidential envoy Steve Witkoff and Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner to Russia amounted, in his view, to a sign of disrespect toward the Ukrainian side. At the same time, he urged against turning the still-unrealized trip of the American negotiators to Kiev into a sensation.

Bloomberg reported that the US representatives had been expected in the Ukrainian capital as early as mid-April. Kiev was hoping the visit would bring clearer and more substantial signals on security guarantees being discussed as part of a possible settlement of the conflict.

Earlier, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said the talks on Ukraine were currently on pause because the United States had shifted its attention to other priorities. Since the start of the year, negotiators from Moscow, Washington and Kiev have already held three rounds of discussions on a settlement. The latest took place in Geneva on February 17–18, but no concrete arrangements for a new meeting have yet been announced.
